MDÁ2023:
Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow
So, a little rundown of this year's edition of MDÁ. 2023 was pretty rough on me physically (more so towards the tail end) which later turned into some mental turmoil, & it really affected my art process. I'm usually a cheery individual & am always grateful for being able-bodied, but when that was hindered it truly brought me down in the dumps. Painting how I like to was no longer a thing so I shifted to a more passive form of creation. Thats where cyanotype printing, mono prints & block printing came into play. I had been meticulously planning on making my own cyanotype prints from the beginning of 2023 but was just overworked & never put time into creating my UV box setup. Once I finally did, I fell into the groove. Anyway here are the pieces from 2023's edition of MDÁ. Enjoy :3

I guess this year I felt like being vulnerable & showing the pieces even when they fell short of my own expectations.

This one failed spectacularly & I knew I had to add the rest of the elements with acrylic paint. Effectively it gave it a new life.
"Atonement 1-9" (Linoleum Block Prints)
When creating this block print I knew that I had to marble paper before running them through the press to add the extra trippy MDÁ oomph.
This installment of MDÁ was kind of like an ode to one of my favorite movies "A Clockwork Orange". I had many other pieces I planned to paint following certain themes & motifs from the film that I wanted to expand upon but unfortunately I wasn't in the right head space to create them. I still plan to create them no matter what, hopefully sooner than later. Year 10 of MDÁ was a helluva curveball in every aspect of my life. I had so much that I wanted to do but I was plagued with setbacks in many forms. If its not 2024 then it'll be 2025 but I promise a 10 year retrospective is coming for this project. I already have a title for year 11 of MDÁ, I hope this will be the year that will bring more eyes on this entire project. Planning to ruffle some feathers & smash a plethora of egos.
